NEW DELHI:The controversial Customs officer in Kerala,Aneesh P Rajan has been transferred to Nagpur.

The Union Finance Ministry had been mulling action against Aneesh P Rajan,Customs Joint Commissioner, who had told the media that no one called him from the CM’s office  regarding the 30 Kg gold smuggling case. The ministry had collected the videos showing his comment. It had also received complaints  against him, alleging the incident was stage managed and his brother is a CPI ( M ) member.

The Centre is convinced that his comment gave political mileage to the CPI ( M ) and it was used politically. Thus he became an instrument in the hands of the ruling party.
Aneesh Rajan had published a post appreciating Pinarayi Vijayan earlier.BJP state President K Surendran had criticized his action in his post. The comment of Aneesh was used by the CM in his daily briefing to absolve himself and his office.
Aneesh is the brother of P R Reneesh, who was the CPI ( M ) Councillor in Kochi Corporation during 2010-2015.Reneesh is the area committee member now. Both are staying in the same home.

The comment of Aneesh was unwarranted, since the incident had happened at the capital, whereas Aneesh is in Kochi. The boss of Aneesh,Commissioner Sumith Kumar subsequently clarified that the Customs had received calls.A List of calls have been made. One of the callers was a former MP who has a position now with a cabinet rank.
