Due to the publication of the Indian Standard specification for digital television receivers with built-in satellite tuners by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Doordarshan is currently transitioning away from analogue broadcasts. The country’s TV viewers currently have to buy a set-top box in order to receive Doordarshan’s Free-To-Air channels. By connecting a dish antenna to a low-noise block positioned in the proper location, TVs made in accordance with this Indian specification will allow reception of Free-To-Air TV and Radio channels.

A large portion of the population of the nation is anticipated to be reached and benefited by this endeavour, which is supposed to make it easier to spread information about government initiatives, plans, educational materials, and other activities.
