The government would finance the construction of homes for an additional three crore rural and urban households under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
At the first cabinet meeting of the recently elected NDA administration in New Delhi, a decision in this regard was made.
Since 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been carried out by the national government to help qualified rural and urban households build homes with the bare minimum of utilities.
Over the course of the last 10 years, 4 crore 21 lakh dwellings for qualified impoverished families have been completed under the initiative.
