Power Ministry proposes plans to secure 4,500 MW of electricity for five years.

New Delhi: The SHAKTI (Scheme for Harnessing and Allocating Koyala Transparently in India) strategy has been adopted by the Power Ministry, and it calls for the procurement of 4,500 MW of power over a five-year period. The “Ministry of Power launches a plan for the procurement of aggregate power of 4500 MW on a competitive basis for five years on a finance, own and operate (FOO) basis under B (v) of SHAKTI Policy,”

The Ministry of Power has appointed PFC Consulting Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of PFC Ltd, as the nodal organisation. The PFC Consulting Ltd. has issued an invitation for bids for the delivery of 4,500 MW under the plan. Beginning in April 2023, power will be made available. It said the Ministry of Coal had been asked to set aside about 27 MTPA for this.

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd, New Delhi Municipal Corporation, and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd are the utilities that have expressed interest in the programme. It specified that bids must be submitted by December 21, 2022.
