Gujarat’s government doubles insurance coverage as part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya programme.

Gujarat: The insurance coverage provided by the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Gujarat has been increased by half as of July 11th. Instead of the former 5-lakh insurance cover, PMAY beneficiaries would now receive a 10-lakh insurance cover.

Almost 1.78 crore Ayushman Bharat card users in the state will benefit from the decision, the state’s health minister Rushikesh Patel said in a statement to the media. In the state, there are 2000 government hospitals and 795 private hospitals, and the beneficiaries of PMAY will receive free medical care at all of these facilities, he continued.

Gujarat has received 39 lakh claims as part of PMAY. In terms of claims filed, the state is ranked fifth in the nation, while it is currently second in terms of claims settled under PMAY. Over 2800 crore worth of claims have already been settled in the state.
