Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda Introduces the Agriculture Sector’s Carbon Market Framework

Arjun Munda the country’s minister of agriculture and farmers’ welfare, stated today that the agriculture industry plays a significant role in the nation’s economy and in the lives of millions of people. He made this statement during the introduction of the Agroforestry Nurseries Accreditation Protocol and the Agriculture Sector Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) framework.

Speaking at the New Delhi event, Mr. Munda stated that this framework was created by the government to encourage VCM in the agriculture industry. It also seeks to promote the use of carbon credits by small and medium-sized farmers. In addition to helping farmers, he said, connecting them to the carbon market will hasten the adoption of environmentally sustainable farming methods. He went on to say that farmers play a major role in managing natural resources rather than exploiting them.

The Minister stated that the government aims to secure everyone’s participation and referred to this framework as the first step in the field of carbon emission control. Speaking on the world’s problems, he stated that the country must proceed cautiously because global warming is a worrying situation.
