Kabul: A suicide bombing outside the Afghan foreign ministry in Kabul has claimed the lives of at least five persons in Afghanistan.

The bomber attempted to penetrate the ministry building on January 11, but was unsuccessful. In the region, there are embassies from a number of nations, including Turkey and China.

The attack was claimed to be the work of the regional branch of the Islamic State organisation known as Islamic State – Khorasan Province (Isis-K).The incident, according to Kabul police, was cowardly, and they said in a statement that those responsible will be held accountable. Since the Taliban took over last year, dozens of explosions have shook Afghanistan; the majority of these explosions were claimed by Isis-K.
