New Delhi: Smriti Irani, the minister of women and child development, officially opened the National Programme on Anganwadi-cum-Crèches in New Delhi today. She announced in her speech that the government intended to open 17,000 childcare facilities around the nation and asked state and local officials to identify groups of women who work in agriculture and construction who can benefit from the effort. According to Ms. Irani, childcare provides women who work in self-help groups and cooperatives with a significant economic opportunity.

She stated that anyone wishes to serve in the sector in a private capacity will have access to a framework for such participation, wherein the child’s safety, nourishment, and health needs are determined. According to the Minister, women who already manage cooperatives and self-help groups can consider operating daycare centres as a business venture. She declared, “The government has closed the unreported, unaccounted for, and unregistered institutes that were operating throughout the nation where children were violated.” She also emphasised that police should verify the institutions and people involved.
