Puducherry : As per the Supreme Court’s instructions, only two hours on Deepavali day in Puducherry would be allowed for the setting off of firecrackers: from 6 to 7 am and from 7 to 8 pm. In a press release, the Puducherry administration cited a Supreme Court ruling that declared firework displays to be fully forbidden within 100 metres of hospitals, temples, schools, and courthouses at all times.

Police, the department of revenue, and the environmental control board should all make sure of it. It is further advised that no online stores may take online orders or conduct online transactions. Only crackers with sound levels within the restrictions are permitted on the market, and manufacturers’ licences will be suspended for any infractions.

The release also states that barium salts cannot be used in fireworks or series crackers. Crackers containing authorised substances would be distributed by authorised traders. If they are proven to be producing illegal fireworks, their licence will be revoked.
