Kerala University offers the first four-year bachelor’s degrees in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University will start offering undergraduate honours programmes for four years in the upcoming academic year, . The following programmes will now last four years: the B.A. (Hons.) in Language and Communication Skills, Politics, and Public Administration; the B.Sc. (Hons.) in Life Science; and the B.Com. (Hons.). The University’s Kariavattom Campus will host these classes to start.

The university-run UITs (University Institute of Technology), which provide B.Com. (Hons.) programmes, will also start offering them. Vice-chancellor Dr. Mohanan Kunummal stated that the specific university campus department that will house the honours courses will be chosen later.

While the B.Sc. (Hons.) course is modelled after the honours programme at the Indian Institute of Science, the B.A. (Hons.) degree is modelled after courses from Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University.
