In October, retail inflation decreased to a three-month low of 6.77 percent.

New Delhi: Consumer pricing index (CPI)-based retail inflation eases to a three-month low of 6.77% in October of this year. According to data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation issued today, food and beverage prices reduced, which was a major factor in the decrease in retail inflation. For the month of September, retail inflation was 7.41%.

Inflation in the food basket was 7.04 percent in October as opposed to 8.41 percent the month before. Fuel and light prices increased by 9.93 percent in the reported period, compared to 10.39 percent in the previous month.

The central bank is required by the government to keep retail inflation at 4% with a 2% tolerance on either side.
