Voting for the Mainpuri LS seat and six Assembly seats in five states

New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh, voting has also started for the byelections for the Rampur and Khatauli Assembly seats and the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency. Additionally, by-elections are now being held for the Odisha Assembly seat of Padampur, the Rajasthan Assembly seat of Sardarshahar, the Bihar Assembly seat of Kurhani, and the Chhattisgarh Assembly seat of Bhanupratappur. Election results will be announced on December 8th.

18.72% of the vote has been counted as of 11 am for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. 20% of voters cast ballots in Khatauli and 11% in Rampur in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-election. 24 % in Kurhani, Bihar, 31 % in Bhanupratapppur, Chhattisgarh, 29 % in Padampur, Odisha, and 19.87 % in Sardarshahar, Rajashthan.

The Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh became vacant after the passing of prominent Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. Dimple Yadav, a former member of parliament from Mainpuri and the wife of the party’s leader Akhilesh Yadav, has been nominated by the Samajwadi Party. The BJP is running Raghuraj Singh Shakya for this seat.
