Varanasi marks the beginning of the Kashi Tamil sangam.

Varanasi : In Varanasi, the month-long Kashi Tamil sangam got underway. The first group of Tamilnadu delegates will arrive in Varanasi tomorrow late at night. The people of Kashi are immensely enthusiastic about the Sangam, especially those who are of Tamil descent and reside in Varanasi.

Five-generation Tamilian living in Varanasi and a member of the Kashi Vishwanath trust, according to Venkat Raman, remarked that people of Tamilnadu origin living all over the world are highly enthusiastic about this sangamam.

He thanked the prime minister for the occasion and noted that Varanasi and Tamilnadu’s people have had a long-standing tie that is not just spiritual and religious but also relates to education and trade. The sangamam will be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at the MP theatre site of Banaras Hindu University.
