New Delhi: A nationwide campaign for the submission of Digital Life Certificates and use of a face authentication app by retirees has been announced by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for November. In the Amrit Kaal, he claimed, a digitally empowered pensioner would make it possible to establish a digitally empowered nation. According to Dr. Singh, submitting life certificates is a crucial task that retirees must complete every year in the month of November in order to maintain their pension.

In the past, pensioners had to physically submit their Life Certificate to the Pension Disbursing Authority, which was cumbersome, especially for elderly, ill, and infirm pensioners. In the Pension Disbursing Authority’s database, there was no way for pensioners to find out the status of any updates to their Life Certificates.

The Minister claimed that in order to improve the “Ease of Living” for Central Government retirees, the government has heavily promoted the usage of the Jeevan Pramaan digital life certificate. DLC submission using biometrics was initially started. Later, the government created a Face-Recognition technology system based on the Aadhar database, allowing anyone with an Android-based smartphone to provide a DLC.
