The four-day cultural extravaganza ‘Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav: A cultural voyage’, which unveiled the richness of Northeast India, was opened at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi by President Droupadi Murmu. The President declared on this particular occasion that our nation’s diversity of culture is both a strength and a soft power. She went on to say that experiencing and showcasing India’s rich cultural legacy and unity will be possible by recognizing this diversity at the Mahotsav.

President Murmu said he expected a sizable crowd to attend the event and take in the vibrancy of the Northeastern culture. G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Development of the North East Region (DoNER), was also present for the event.

The Ministry of DoNER is working with the Culture Ministry to organize the Mahotsav as a component of Udyan Utsav, 2024. The festival hopes to promote trade in traditional handicrafts, handlooms, and agricultural goods, acting as a spur for the expansion and advancement of the area. More than three hundred weavers, artists, farmers, and business owners from the Northeast Region are expected to take part in the Mahotsav, according to the DoNER Ministry. Moreover, throughout the Mahotsav, live displays of handcrafted items from more than 20 locations will take place. According to the Ministry, this Mahotsav would unite traditional arts, crafts, and cultures under one vivacious roof, showcasing the rich diversity of Northeast India. There is no admission cost for visitors to Mahotsav, which is open from 10 AM to 8 PM.
