The coveted list of Blue Beaches now includes two additional Indian beaches.

New Delhi: Two Indian beaches, Minicoy Thundi beach and Kadmat beach, both of which are in Lakshadweep, have been awarded the “Blue Flag” international environmental certification. With the addition of these two beaches, India now has 12 Blue Beaches. This is a step in India’s tenacious effort to create a sustainable environment, which is being spearheaded by Prime Minister Modi.

The Lakshadweep people received congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their accomplishment. This is fantastic, he tweeted. I’d want to congratulate everyone on this achievement, especially the people of Lakshadweep. India has a beautiful coastline, and its citizens are very passionate about promoting coastal cleanliness.

Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri in Karnataka, Kappad in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden in Odisha, Radhanagar in Andaman & Nicobar, Kovalam in Tamil Nadu, and Eden in Puducherry beaches are among the other Indian beaches on the blue list.
