New Delhi: In a case involving alleged anomalies in the registration of foreign medical graduates with medical councils on the basis of fraudulent credentials, the Central Bureau of Investigation today conducted searches in various states and Union Territories. According to the organisation, searches were done at 91 different sites, including the offices of some medical councils and foreign medical graduates. Several damning documents, including fictitious Pass Certificates from the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination, were found as a result.

On the 21st of this month, the CBI filed a complaint against unidentified employees of the State Medical Councils and the Medical Councils of India. According to allegations, up to 73 foreign medical graduates who failed the required qualifying examination yet managed to register with medical councils in numerous jurisdictions. Additionally, it was claimed that the candidates’ registration on these phoney certificates allowed them to practise medicine or land jobs at hospitals across the nation.
