The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, has stated that technology can be a significant factor in increasing the accountability of democratic institutions. According to him, using technology in legislatures can make public officials more accountable. Today, Birla spoke as the chief guest at the opening session of the 9th Convention of the India Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. “Strengthening Democracy and Good Governance in the Digital Age” serves as the conference’s overarching subject. According to Shri Birla, people have grown more conscious and have raised their expectations and aspirations over the course of the past 75 years of democracy. It can be hard to live up to these hopes and expectations. According to him, technology may be used to construct a transparent system in the modern era.

According to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, only with the public’s active involvement can democratic institutions be improved. He claimed that most state legislatures now hold their meetings online, allowing the general public to see the deportment and conduct of their members. According to Shri Birla, during the past 75 years, we have built democratic institutions. Even more crucial are the ensuing 25 years. He urged Presiding Officers to maintain a positive public image after being chosen as a House Speaker.
