In NEW DELHI: The government is planning to introduce a programme named Pradhan Mantri – Promotion of Alternative Nutritious and Agriculture Management in an effort to reduce the usage of chemical fertilizers (PM-PRANAM).The programme will reward states that use fewer chemical fertilizers on average over the course of the last three years in a given year compared to other states.

According to the source, “those states that used less fertilizer in a year compared to the average consumption of the last three years will be rewarded by providing incentive grants at the rate of 50% of the total amount of subsidy saved by using less fertilizer.” These states included those that used less urea, diammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of potash (MOP), etc.

“States can set up bio/organic fertilizer factories using 80% of this incentive payment for the welfare of farmers.
