Parliament’s Winter Session ends six days earlier than expected.

New Delhi: Six days ahead of schedule for the Winter Session, both Houses of Parliament adjourned sine die today. Speaker Om Birla stated that the Lok Sabha was 97% productive throughout the session in his final speech to the body. In total, he claimed, there were 13 sittings, during which seven legislation were passed and nine others were introduced in the House.

The Rajya Sabha’s chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, said that the House’s productivity during the session was 102%. Nine bills were passed and returned, he claimed, by the House during that time. 31 private member bills were also introduced in the House, Mr. Dhankhar continued. The Chairman further stated that disruptions cost the House one hour and 46 minutes of time.

The Parliament’s Winter Session, which began on the 7th of this month, was supposed to go through December 29th.
