Nation pays tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 147th birthday

New Delhi: On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 147th birthday, the nation pays tribute to the Iron Man who helped unite modern India. As Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the day is also honoured.

In New Delhi, at Patel Chowk’s statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Home Minister Amit Shah presented floral tributes.

Meenakshi Lekhi, a Union Minister, and Delhi Lt. Governor VK Saxena also paid tribute to Sardar Patel. After the floral tribute, Mr. Shah signalled the start of the “Run for Unity” from New Delhi’s National Stadium, in which some 8,000 people took part. The occasion also included the presence of the Lt. Governor of Delhi and the Union Ministers S Jaishankar and Meenakshi Lekh.
