The country’s total development depends on accelerating rural development said  by President Droupadi Murmu. As the majority of the rural population depends on land resources for their living, she claimed that modernising land records is a fundamental prerequisite for the development of rural areas. This was said by her as she gave a speech today in New Delhi while delivering the Bhoomi Samman 2023.

Nine State Secretaries and 68 District Collectors, as well as their teams, received accolades for their outstanding performance in completing the core components of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme. For the general development of rural areas, according to the President, a thorough, integrated land management system is crucial.

President Murmu emphasised that digitalization enhances transparency and that the digitization of land records and its connections to other government agencies will aid in the effective implementation of welfare programmes. She continued by saying that it will also be very helpful in the event that disasters like floods and fire cause the loss of documents.

The President expressed his satisfaction to learn that a Unique Land Parcel Identification Number, which may be beneficial like an Aadhaar Card, is being supplied under the Digital India Land Information Management System. She claimed that this figure will aid in developing and putting into effect new welfare programmes as well as in making effective use of the lands.
