New Delhi: The 400th birthday celebrations for the Ahom chieftain Lachit Barphukan, which lasted three days, got underway in New Delhi. On this occasion, the Ahom dynasty and Lachit Barphukan, among others, have had an exhibition honouring their lives and accomplishments opened by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

To educate the public about the accomplishments of the Ahom kingdom and the bravery of Lachit Barphukan, Nirmala Sitharaman asked the Assam government to organise such exhibitions across the nation. Additionally, she asked the Ministry of Culture to work with the Assam government on this project. She claimed that Lachit Barphukan’s bravery inspired and motivated her.

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief minister of Assam, the bravery of the Ahoms and Lachit Barphukan dynasties and other comparable ones was disregarded by Indian history. He claimed that this programme will make it easier for people to recognise the nation’s true heroes. According to Mr. Sarma, numerous steps are being made to demonstrate Lachit Barphukan’s bravery from a national standpoint. He stated that the Lachit Barphukan documentary will be launched tomorrow by Home Minister Amit Shah, and the closing ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
