Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, India’s longest bridge and a significant infrastructure project for Mumbai, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Being the longest sea bridge in the nation, the 21.8 km long bridge is another notable feature. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais were in present.
The goal of Atal Setu is to enhance connectivity throughout the Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Mumbai Metropolitan Regions. The bridge would shorten the two-hour journey time from Sewri and Nhava Sheva to just 20 minutes. The path from Mumbai to Pune, Goa, and the remainder of South India is also shortened. In addition to improving communication between the Mumbai Port and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port, it will offer a quicker route from both the Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport. The 6-lane bridge is the longest in India overall and the longest sea bridge, spanning 16.5 km across the sea and roughly 5.5 km on land.
