New Delhi: Amid a rise in instances, the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised alarm about the COVID-19 situation as it is developing in China. In a weekly news conference yesterday, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu stated that in light of an increase in reports of severe disease, WHO needs more specific information on disease severity, hospital admissions, and the need for intensive care unit support in order to make a thorough risk assessment of the situation on the ground in the country.

In order to better understand the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic, he once more urged China to give the information that the international health organisation has asked. He also extended their support for clinical treatment and safeguarding China’s health system and urged it to concentrate its efforts on immunising those who were most at danger across the nation. He claimed that compared to a year ago, we are considerably better off with the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Tedros said that there are still too many unknowns and gaps in the knowledge to declare the pandemic to be gone.
