New Delhi: The combined report for 2020–21 and 2021–22 of the Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI–D) was released by the Education Ministry. By developing an index for thorough analysis, the study evaluates the effectiveness of the school education system at the District level.

With over 14.9 lakh schools, 95 lakh teachers, and nearly 26.5 crore pupils from various socioeconomic backgrounds, the Indian Education System is one of the biggest in the world, according to the Ministry. The report for the reference years 2017–18 to 2020–21 was created, and Performance Grading Index for States was created. The creation of the 83-indicator-based PGI-D, which grades the performance of all districts in school education, was inspired by the success of the State PGI.

PGI-D’s main goal is to assist the Districts in prioritising areas for school education intervention so that students can advance to the highest grade.
