New Delhi: In honour of Shaheed e Azam Bhagat Singh’s 115th birthday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman renamed Chandigarh International Airport to Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport today. The Chandigarh International Airport has been renamed Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last Sunday in his Mann Ki Baat programme.

In her remarks to the crowd, Nirmala Sitharaman thanked the Prime Minister for making this choice and expressed her gratitude for the honour of renaming Chandigarh International Airport after Bhagat Singh. According to her, Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s tremendous sacrifice cannot be forgotten.

She claimed that the independence fighters are honoured when the nation observes Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, allowing future generations to learn about the true national heroes.
