New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Cambodia for two days from tomorrow. The ninth annual gathering of the ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus is being held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which is hosting the summit. On November 23, Mr. Singh will address the forum. He will speak with the Cambodian Prime Minister.

Rajnath Singh will preside over the first India-ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting, which will be co-chaired by India and Cambodia to mark 30 years of India-ASEAN cooperation. During the summit, a number of initiatives to strengthen the India-ASEAN partnership are expected to be unveiled.

In 1992, India joined ASEAN as a conversation partner, and on October 12, 2010, the first ADMM-Plus meeting took place in Hanoi, Vietnam. ADMM-Plus Ministers have been gathering annually since 2017 to promote communication and collaboration between ASEAN and the Plus countries. A “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” now exists between India and ASEAN.
