New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has opened over 49 crore accounts since it began. Deposits into the Jan Dhan account are more than two lakh crore rupees. The program’s stated goal is to give all citizens of the nation access to banking services. It was introduced in 2014. In a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad stated this.
As per him, basic financial services like cash deposits, withdrawals, fund transfers, balance inquiries, and mini statements are sent to bank customers via banking shops. According to him, the government keeps an eye on the existence of banking facilities for offering financial services within five kilometres of all populated communities. More than 99 percent of the more than six lakh inhabited villages on the map, according to the minister, have access to a banking facility.
