Polling in 49 Lok Sabha constituencies across six States and two Union Territories is under underway in the fifth round of the Lok Sabha Election 2024. 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 seats in Maharashtra, 7 seats in West Bengal, 5 seats in each of Odisha and Bihar, 3 seats in Jharkhand, and 1 seat in each of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are up for vote in this round. Additionally, voting is being conducted today for the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s 35 Assembly Constituencies. In order to ensure a seamless and transparent voting process, 94 thousand 732 polling places have been equipped with over 9 lakh 47 thousand polling officers.
Every arrangement at the voting places is the result of the Election Commission. Every voter, even the elderly and those with disabilities, may vote easily because to the basic amenities provided at polling places, which include plenty of shade, drinking water, stairs, restrooms, wheelchairs, and electricity. We have encouraged the Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officers, and State machinery in question to take appropriate precautions against excessive heat in places where it is predicted.
