Mumbai: Under the family planning program in Maharashtra, the Uddhav Thackeray government of the state family planning kit Have decided to include a rubber dildo with Family Planning Kits. Asha workers have started protesting against the state government’s decision to give this ‘rubber penis’. In fact, ASHA workers are puzzled as to how to explain sex simulation equipment in villages.

This step has been taken as part of the measures to spread awareness about the programme. It has been told that when Asha workers were given a dildo in the family planning kit, she was shocked to see it. Department officials have asked ASHA workers to give a demo of the kit. However, no official announcement has been made by the state government regarding Dildo.

Asha workers across the state are opposing the inclusion of dildos in the family planning kit. Some don’t even know about it. In such a situation, being able to give its demo in the villages has become a matter of challenge for them. The debate on family planning in the open is already a point of contention, becoming sensitive with the government’s emphasis on sexual simulation devices. Tabassum Hussain, an activist working for women’s rights in the state, strongly condemned the move and termed it as disgraceful and shameful.

The ASHA workers are part of a community of recognized social health workers set up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as the National Rural Health Mission of India.
