New Delhi: Anurag Thakur, the minister of information and broadcasting, claimed that a recent assessment of available space revealed the creation of more than eleven lakh square feet. He said that the ministry launched a drive to remove the clutter in various Prasar Bharati offices and media units under the ministry, taking a lesson from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan. This drive eventually led to a space audit, he claimed. One lakh square feet of space have been recovered, he claimed, in Delhi’s Soochna Bhawan. Furthermore, he claimed that scrap disposed of under the Swachha Bharat Abhiyan might bring in roughly 22 crore rupees.

Space efficiency and placing multiple ministry wings together, according to Mr. Anurag Thakur, would also create synergy. The Minister stated that space audits in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bhopal were personally overseen by him. According to him, the ministry is conducting comparable initiatives all around the nation.

The space audit of MIB was also referenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the most recent episode of Mann ki Baat. The space audit will ease the ministry’s load on the exchequer by generating greater rental income for Prasar Bharati.
