Gujarat: In India and around the world, Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is celebrated with great religious fervour. It commemorates the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh guru and the one who founded Sikhism. The 553rd anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth is this year. Devotees from all around the world offer prayers on this day.

On the occasion of the 553rd Parkash Purab, the anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the public.

President Murmu sent her warmest condolences to all Indians living abroad and fellow citizens, especially the Sikh brothers and sisters. She claimed in her message that Guru Nanak Dev Ji propagated the idea that God is one and all-pervasive, or Ek Omkar. She claimed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji inspired people to live lives of love, brotherhood, and harmony.
