New Delhi: The Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, have both received President Droupadi Murmu’s approval. Parliament recently approved the two Bills.

In contrast to the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which amends the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act 2017, the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, modifies the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017. Online gaming, online gambling for money, and virtual digital assets are all defined under the Central Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Online gaming, which includes gambling, is defined by the Bill’s provisions as any game that is offered via the internet or another electronic network.

Online gambling is not included in the definition of online information and data access or retrieval services under the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which modifies the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act of 2017.
