Marvel Studios has announced the release date of Black Widow in India. The Scarlett Johansson-starrer will release on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 3. The movie will be released in six different languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

The movie ran into a controversy recently after Johansson sued Disney Studios, parent company of Marvel Studios, alleging that her contract was breached when Black Widow was released on their streaming platform Disney Plus. In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, attorneys for Johansson claimed that the star’s contract was breached when the studio opted not to debut the film exclusively in theatres. The lawsuit contends that the Disney Plus release siphoned potential theatregoers, costing her potential compensation tied to the movie’s theatrical revenue.

Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow also features actors Rachel Weisz, David Harbour and Florence Pugh.

She was recently cast in Wes Anderson’s latest film, which also stars Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks as well as the acclaimed auteur’s old favourites Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton.

Earlier this month, Johansson and husband Colin Jost became parents to a baby boy.
