At all levels of education, the gross enrollment ratio increases in 2021–22: UDISE

New Delhi: In comparison to the previous year, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the primary, upper primary, and higher secondary levels of education has increased in 2021–2022. According to the Ministry of Education, GER in higher secondary improved significantly from 53.8 to 57.6 percent in 2021–22. This information was included in a report on Indian school education that was made public by the Ministry.

The total number of pupils enrolled in school from primary to higher secondary in 2021–22 was 25.57 crore, up from 25.38 crore the year before. It recorded a 19.36 lakh rise in enrollments. 3.45 percent more children with special needs are enrolled, which is an improvement.

According to the Ministry, over 95 lakh teachers will be working in the field of education in 2021–2022; more than 51% of these instructors will be women. According to the report, the Pupil Teacher Ratio improved from 2018–19, standing at 26 for primary, 19 for upper primary, 18 for secondary, and 27 for higher secondary in 2021–22.

Over 12.29 crore girls would be enrolled in basic through higher education in 2021–2022, an increase of 8.19 lakh over the previous year.
