New Delhi: The debut of the e-rupee, according to RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, was a watershed point in the history of the rupee in India and will change how people conduct transactions and conduct business.

Shaktikanta Das stated that the RBI aims to work out all the kinks in Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) before launching it at the FICCI’s Banking Conference – FIBAC 2022. He further stated that by CY 2023, the central bank aims to fully introduce digitalized Kisan Credit Card loans.

Governor argued that price stability, sustained growth, and financial stability need not be mutually exclusive in his speech to Indian bankers. He added that withholding the letter the RBI will write to the government as a result of missing its inflation target does not in any way jeopardise transparency.
