New York: A devastating winter storm has prompted US President Joe Biden to declare an emergency in the state of New York. The emergency conditions brought on by a catastrophic winter storm have prompted the President to declare the State of New York to be in a state of emergency and to direct federal assistance to support state and local response operations.

According to the statement, the action gives the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) the authority to coordinate all disaster relief efforts aimed at easing the suffering and hardship the emergency has caused the local population as well as to give the necessary support for necessary emergency measures.

At least 12 states Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Wisconsin reported a total of 50 fatalities, according to earlier reports. With more than a metre of snow falling over the weekend, Buffalo in northeastern New York State suffered the most losses.

56 people have died as a result of the storm that has affected the Canadian to Mexican border. Authorities in New York, namely in Buffalo, reported that victims were found inside vehicles and from behind snow banks as emergency personnel went from car to car looking for more survivors.
