Maruti Suzuki India kick-starts its 2022 with the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG in the country, offered in a single variant, at a price of ₹ 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Celerio S-CNG is the sixth CNG-equipped car from Maruti in the country, available on the VXi variant, at a premium of ₹ 45,000 over the corresponding petrol variants. The S-CNG variant of the Celerio, apart from receiving a new powertrain, also features the cosmetic updates that came along with the new-generation Celerio.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The launch of all-new Celerio S-CNG will take us a step closer to our ambition of spearheading the mass adoption of green vehicles in India. Interestingly, the S-CNG variant in the previous generation Celerio contributed over 30 per cent of total sales. The all-new Celerio S-CNG with a new 3D organic sculpted design, energetic and spacious cabin, and S-CNG technology will offer customers an affordable, safe, and high-performance green vehicle. We are confident that customers will appreciate the all-new Celerio S-CNG’s stellar fuel efficiency.”

The key differentiator on the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG, is its powertrain, as it now features the new-gen K10C petrol engine, tuned to generate 41.7kW @5,300 rpm in the CNG mode, and 48.0kW @5,500 rpm in the petrol mode. The new Celerio S-CNG has a peak torque of 82.1Nm in the CNG mode and 89Nm in the petrol mode, compared to the 66bhp and 89Nm @3,500rpm punched out from the standard petrol version. The company claims the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio S-CNG delivers a mileage of 35.60km/kg and features a tank capacity of 60-litre.

The launch of Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG vehicle range is aligned to and complements the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the country’s primary energy mix from 6.2 per cent now to 15 per cent by 2030. The Government is working to rapidly increase the CNG fuel pumps network in the country. Maruti Suzuki factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles are equipped with dual interdependent Electronic Control Units and an intelligent injection system, specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and enhanced drivability across all kinds of terrains.
