New Delhi: The 26th meeting of the Western Zonal Council was presided over by Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The Inter-State Council Secretariat, a division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, coordinated the gathering with the Gujarati government.

Senior officials from the state and federal governments, including the chief ministers of Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, and Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman, Diu, Bhupendra Patel, Pramod Sawant, and Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, attended the meeting.

The Inter-State Council Secretariat’s e-resource web portal was launched during the meeting by Union Minister Amit Shah. This portal includes the minutes and agendas for all previous meetings of the Inter-State Council, the five Zonal Councils, and their Standing Committees. State governments, UTs, and Central Ministries and Departments can all use the digital platform to make policy decisions.

The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including infrastructure, water supply, the environment and forests, as well as matters of general regional and national importance. The states of Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra, as well as the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, make up the Western Zonal Council.
