The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) is a government-funded institution that is being established in each state. During a media conference on World Food India-2024, which is set to take place in the nation’s capital in September of this year, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan made this claim. According to him, the food processing industry has enormous potential and can significantly contribute to raising farmers’ incomes and achieving India’s goal of becoming a developed nation.
Mr. Paswan continued by saying that the industry has the potential to create a large number of job opportunities for the nation. The Minister also discussed building additional infrastructure for food processing in various locations to enable the processing of regional foods and goods. In the following five years, Mr. Paswan promised to work on lowering the amount of produce, fruit, and other goods that are wasted. Cleanliness, quality assurance, and adhering to international standards will also be his top goals, he continued.
Speaking at the event, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, stated that the food processing sectors need to be strengthened even more because Indian cuisine is adored worldwide. He claimed that throughout the previous ten years, the nation’s export of processed foods had grown dramatically. The World Food India – 2024 is going to be a global gathering place for the food processing sector. Along with encouraging investment in the nation’s diversified food processing industry, it also aims to acquaint the world to the rich food culture of India.
