New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management has taken a number of actions in response to the worsening air quality in the National Capital Region. Four-wheeled diesel Light Motor Vehicles are no longer permitted to operate in the Region; only BS-VI, essential, and emergency services vehicles are still permitted.

Truck access has also been halted, with the exception of those using CNG or battery power and those transporting necessities. The Commission also ordered a prohibition on building activities in the area for public projects like pipelines, flyovers, and motorways. The panel also mandated the shutdown of all non-clean fuel industries in the NCR. The manufacturing of life-saving medical equipment and gadgets, medications, and medicines will be free from the restrictions, as will the milk and dairy businesses.

The Delhi government and the state governments of the NCR have been urged to decide whether to permit public, municipal, and private workplaces to operate with a 50% staffing level and the remaining employees to work from home. People with chronic diseases such as respiratory, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and other have been advised to avoid outdoor activities and spend as much time indoors as possible.
