New Delhi: A total lunar eclipse will occur today. The total lunar eclipse will be visible to people in Asia, Australia, North America, sections of northern and eastern Europe, most of South America, the North Atlantic Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean. The eclipse will be seen in India during moonrise from every location. A total solar eclipse will start at 14:39 IST. IST 15 hours 46 minutes will mark the beginning of the complete eclipse.
The partial and total phases of the eclipse will not, according to the Ministry of Earth Science, begin to appear until after Moonrise, hence no location in India will be able to see them. From the eastern regions of the country, the ending of both the full and partial phases will be evident. To the rest of the nation, the partial phase’s termination will be the only event visible.
At Moonrise, the total phase of the eclipse will be happening for places in the eastern section of the country, such as Kolkata and Guwahati. When the Moon rises, the partial eclipse will still be happening for residents of other cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
On a full moon day, a lunar eclipse happens when the earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon and when all three celestial bodies are in line. A total lunar eclipse happens when the entire moon passes entirely through the Earth’s umbral shadow, while a partial lunar eclipse only happens when a portion of the moon does.
