New Delhi: In light of the unexpected rise in Delhi’s Air Quality Index, the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjacent Areas conducted an urgent review meeting on Monday. The severity level of Delhi’s total air quality index has been attained. They made the decision to send out sufficient numbers of inspection teams at the meeting to guarantee that the Graded Response Action Plan was strictly followed (GRAP).
In order to stop future degradation of the air quality, it was emphasised to state government representatives, chairpersons, and member secretaries of NCR Pollution Control Boards that the provisions of GRAP must be implemented in the field with more vigour. They promised to examine GRAP’s implementation and step up their pollution control and mitigation efforts, including preventing open burning, during the meeting. A series of urgent actions are performed to lower air pollution under GRAP.
