The Indian economy’s backbone is agriculture, and farmers are its essence: Shivraj Singh

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal to see India flourish by 2047 will be significantly influenced by the agricultural industry and industries associated to it. Speaking yesterday in New Delhi on the 96th Foundation and Technology Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Mr. Chouhan stated that farmers are the backbone of the Indian economy and that agriculture is its lifeblood. He stated that the government places a high premium on farmers and farming, and that Prime Minister Modi has set a goal of doubling farmer income. Mr. Chouhan dedicated some products to farmers and released 25 crop types on the occasion.
