New Delhi: After an uproar by the opposition parties over the Manipur violence problem, both Houses of Parliament adjourned for the day. When the Rajya Sabha convened for the day, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced that he had received 47 notices regarding the Manipur issue in accordance with rule 267. Mr. Dhankhar claimed that the government had already expressed interest in a brief dialogue on the subject, to which he had already admitted.

By suspending all House business, members of the TMC, Congress, and other parties attempted to press their demand for a quick discussion on Manipur in accordance with rule 267. The Chairman adjourned the House for the day after expressing his disgust with TMC MP Derek O’Brien’s behaviour. Vinay Dinu Tendulkar, a Rajya Sabha representative from Goa who will retire this month, received a fond farewell from the House earlier.

Opposition lawmakers from the Congress, TMC, DMK, JD(U), and other parties flocked to the well in the Lok Sabha when the House reconvened after the first session at noon and began shouting about the Manipur issue. They clamoured for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the House. The House enacted three laws among the clamour.
