Territorial Army’s 73rd Raising Day is observed nationwide.

New Delhi: To honour the Territorial Army’s raising on this day in 1949 by the country’s first governor general, C. Rajagopalachari, the 73rd Raising Day of the Territorial Army was observed today. By laying a wreath at the National War Memorial, Lieutenant General Preet Mohindera Singh, Director General of the Territorial Army, honoured the Territorial Army’s fallen heroes.
The festivities got underway on Friday with a tree planting in Delhi’s Bhatti Mines, where 10,000 saplings were planted. More than 8.5 billion trees have now been planted around the nation by the Territorial Army’s ecological task units.Yesterday, the Territorial Army’s commanders, families, and Veer Naris paid President Droupadi Murmu, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, a visit. Additionally, a blood donation camp was held at the 124 Infantry Battallion (Territorial Army) SIKH in Delhi with the participation of all ranks and families.
Aside from battalions called “Home and Hearth” that are based on the idea of “Sons of Soil,” the Territorial Army also has a variety of infantry and engineer units that are associated with different regiments of the Indian Army. Additionally, the Territorial Army includes ten ecological battalions that are working to restore the environment in the nation by planting trees in difficult and hostile terrain, revitalising wetlands, restoring water bodies, and supporting the Clean Ganga project.
