New Delhi: People acquainted with the situation revealed on Friday that French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to be the primary guest at the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. This would make him the sixth French leader to honour the distinguished event.
US President Joe Biden was invited by India to be the primary guest for Republic Day in January, but he stated that he was unable to travel. The invitation from New Delhi to attend the Republic Day celebrations for Macron comes at a time when the two nations’ relations are rapidly improving, particularly in the fields of commerce and investment, clean energy, defence and security, and new technologies.
As the honoured guest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Bastille Day parade in July as part of the French National Day celebrations.
