The Union Budget for 2024–2025 and the Budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were the topics of today’s Rajya Sabha discussion. Randeep Singh Surjewala of the Congress brought up the problems of farmers, the impoverished, and unemployment throughout the discussion. He added that the Budget contained no provisions for forgiving loans to farmers. He added that farmers are not receiving enough MSP on food grains from the government. The AAP’s Raghav Chaddha claimed that the government has offended every segment of society with this budget. He asserted that rural income growth is at a decadal low and that the average person’s tax burden has increased. He brought up the topics of unemployment and inflation as well.

According to BJD’s Debashis Samantray, the country’s regional goals were overlooked in the budget. Additionally, he said that Odisha received nothing from the Center in the budget. Mr. Samantray claimed that the budget ignores states like Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha in favor of appeasing two states. RJD’s Sanjay Yadav referred to the budget as being anti-poor. Regarding employment and employment rate, he remarked, the budget is mute. Mr. Yadav asserted that India ranks 142nd out of 197 countries in terms of per capita income, while having the fifth largest economy in the world. He claimed that there are no specific allocations for farmers in the budget.
