New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce 5G services today. Continuous coverage, large data rates, low latency, and extremely dependable communications will all be made possible by 5G technology. Additionally, it will improve network, spectrum, and energy efficiency.
According to Ashwini Vasihnaw, minister of communications and information technology, the government wants to provide 5G service to the entire nation within the next two years. According to him, around Rs. 3 lakh crore will be invested in the 5G service.
Through its flagship programmes like Digital India, Start-up India, and Make in India, the government has made significant efforts to integrate digital connectivity into its policy objectives. The adoption of cutting-edge use cases and technologies could lead to the development of new-age firms, increased revenue for businesses, and employment opportunities thanks to the impending 5G services. Today, 80 billion customers have access to broadband, up from 10 billion in 2014. It is anticipated that services based on 5G technology would be able to offer speeds and capacities that are around ten times greater than those of the existing 4G services.
The introduction of 5G services comes after years of careful planning. Recently, successful 5G spectrum auctions were held, and Telecom Service Providers with gross revenues of more than 1,500,000 crore rupees were given 51,236 MHz. By 2035, it is anticipated that 5G will have a total economic impact on India of 450 billion US dollars.
